Milwaukee's spanning RiverWalk, located parallel to Water Street and Milwaukee River in the vibrant Westown neighborhood, includes the culture, history and food of Old World 3rd Street. Those traditions are only the beginning on this tour where Milwaukee's old German traditions meet delicious new delights!
Celebrating our 6th anniversary in 2013, we are Milwaukee's premier, original and award-winning tour company. Our tours provide the ideal combination of food, culture and history too! And, unlike many of our other tours, this route allows for shopping time - splurge along the way and buy local treasures at a cheese shop, sausage manufacturer, spice house, and more.
This tour offers authentic German food tastings as well as an opportunity to eat, drink and socialize your way into newer establishments in the area. Sample Milwaukee's oldest microbrewery complete with a visit to their Beer Memorabilia collection; schlemiel and schlimazel your way across the Milwaukee River to pay homage to The Fonz; visit one of the last historic Turner society buildings still being used for its original purpose; dine on fantastic foods and more!
Tour Length: Approximately 1 mile along Milwaukee’s RiverWalk, with plenty of walking breaks and opportunities to sit down along the way. We spend approximately 15 - 20 minutes at each location.
Time Commitment: Between 2 - 2.5 hours, depending on the pace of the group
Fun Facts: Did you know that the typewriter was invented in Milwaukee, and that some of our sidewalks were heated well before it was trendy? On this tour route, you’ll learn more about these fun facts, plus we’ll even schlemiel, schlimazel our way across the Milwaukee River to visit Fonzie.
All tastings are included in the price. Portions are often served family-style. Samples are substantial - for the vast majority of attendees, you will not need to plan for a meal after the tour!
Allergy Disclaimer - We can accommodate many special requests due to allergies to nuts, seafood, MSG, wheat, etc. We also are happy to accommodate vegetarian requests. In all cases, we do require advance notice to make such arrangements.
Of Special Note: The Old World Third Street area provides plenty of opportunities for shopping. We recommend taking our guided Milwaukee food tasting and culture tour at the beginning of your stay in town. That way, you’ll be able to return to your newly-discovered Milwaukee restaurants, venues and hotspots during the rest of your visit!
